Eidur Gudjohnsen has told Bolton fans to expect an older and wiser version of the player who first signed for the club in 1998.
The 36-year-old last week signed a deal until the end of the season and returns more than 14 years after his initial two-year stay ended with a move to Chelsea.
He went on to play for three more English clubs in between spells in Spain, France, Greece and - most recently - Belgium.
"When it came up I really didn't think twice about coming here," Gudjohnsen told Sky Sports News HQ. "I've fond memories and I know my surroundings.
"I had a chat with (Bolton manager) Neil Lennon over a cup of coffee and had a good feeling about it. This is the outcome and it's a very pleasant surprise.
"The people here have probably got memories of a young, fresh boy with fresh legs and I can say now it's a more developed payer with slightly older legs but a quicker mind.
"I'd like to think what I lack in the enthusiasm of a young boy I will make up with experience. I'm just raring to go - I feel 19 even though I don't look it."
The first appearance of Gudjohnsen's second spell could come on Saturday against Ipswich - the same opposition the Icelander faced in the Championship play-offs in 2000 the last time he wore a Bolton shirt.
Emile Heskey, meanwhile, remains on trial while Lennon decides whether to offer him a contract.
