Neil Lennon admits he will have a much better picture of what his Bolton side are capable of after their next two fixtures with Norwich and Cardiff.
Wanderers head to Carrow Road on Friday night after a pair of wins sandwiched a loss at Charlton in Lennon's first three games at the helm.
Bolton will only leave the bottom three with victory in Norfolk but Lennon acknowledged that a trip to the high-flying Canaries, followed by the home game with Cardiff on Tuesday, will provide his team with the sternest tests of his short reign.
"I'm cautiously optimistic going forward," said Lennon.
"But we have Norwich and Cardiff to come, who were Premier League teams last year, so this will really show us where we are after these two games.
"We may lose them - there would be no disgrace in that - but I think the players are starting to get the message and they've really got the bit between their teeth now so it's going to be a great test for us in both of those games."
