Transfer news: Bolton striker Conor Wilkinson joins Oldham on loan

Oldham have completed the signing Conor Wilkinson from Bolton on a one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old scored against the Latics earlier in the week in the Manchester Senior Cup game, and enjoyed spells with both Chester and Torquay last season.

The towering striker has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels.

Oldham manager Lee Johnson told the club's official website: "He is a player we have tracked for a while now. We watched him progress through the ranks at Bolton and we look forward to bringing him into the squad.

"He played against us the other day and looked good so it will be interesting to see if he can fulfill his full potential with a League One side.

"He is physically strong and a good finisher. He will complement all that we have got at the moment and that can only help the squad.

"We want to thank Bolton for lending us the player and we are coming up to a period of games where we need all the bodies we can get."

Wilkinson will go straight into the squad to face Gillingham on Saturday.
