Marcos Alonso believes his Bolton side can pull themselves away from the relegation mire, starting with victory over Lancashire rivals Burnley on Saturday.

The Spaniard is enjoying his best spell at the club, after suffering several injuries whilst the Trotters were in the Premier League.

Now he is settled, the defender is focused on getting Bolton away from a position that he feels they don't deserve to be in.

"It is difficult to come down from the Premier League to get the motivation of the team right," he told Sky Sports.

"We have been too inconsistent, and not been scoring enough goals. I think we just need a bit more luck and the goals will come.

"We have played better than most of our opponents in recent months, but have not been getting the results, which is worrying.

An ideal time for Dougie Freedman's side to get their first win of 2013 would be in Saturday's Lancashire derby with Burnley at the Reebok Stadium, and Alonso appreciates the importance of the encounter.

"We are hungry for revenge," he added.

"A win tomorrow at home in the local derby will give us strength to keep going for the rest of the season."
