Former Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba has opened the door to the possibility of returning to professional football despite retiring in August.
The 24-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for the Trotters at White Hart Lane in March and, following a miraculous recovery, called time on his playing career having made over 150 Premier League appearances.
But now Muamba, who began his career with Arsenal and earned England Under-21 honours, has admitted he has not given up on the possibility of securing another contract in the future.
"Maybe in two years, if I go for a check-up and my heart rhythm comes back to normality, we'll see if anyone wants to take me on."

He said: "Maybe in two years, if I go for a check-up and my heart rhythm comes back to normality, we'll see if anyone wants to take me on.
"If it comes back to normality, we'll see what the specialist says regarding me playing again. It all depends on my heart rhythm and how it heals.
"But at this present moment, I just have to take it easy and spend time with my family."
