Spurs boss delighted with Muamba's recovery

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted the club's players have been lifted by the positive news on Fabrice Muamba's recovery. Muamba is making good progress after suffering a cardiac arrest during Bolton's FA Cup clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane last Saturday. The former England Under 21 player is still in intensive care but he is continuing to show signs of improvement after being able to breathe independently and talk to family and friends. A number of Spurs players were distressed by the incident on the pitch on Saturday as medical staff battled to save Muamba's life, but Redknapp insists they have been buoyed by the improvement in Muamba's condition. "It is fantastic news (of Muamba's improvement)," said Redknapp. "I spoke to Owen Coyle late last night and he said they had a great day better than they ever could have expected yesterday.

Right direction

"There is still obviously a long way to go, but things are moving in the right direction so it is good news." Redknapp believes the mood in the Spurs camp has been boosted by the news on Muamba ahead of Wednesday's clash with Stoke. "I think all [the players] have been buoyed by the news that has come through, so things have obviously picked up," added Redknapp. "The news has been fantastic again today and everybody is talking about this morning so it is good. "I think it affected everybody that saw it. It was just an unbelievable incident and we've never seen anything like that before. "The whole few days you can't get the lad out of your mind what happened there, but the news is positive and we just keep our fingers crossed now."
