Bolton Wanderers defender Marcos Alonso is ready for a return to first-team action after spending almost three months on the sidelines with a foot injury.
The Spaniard has been slowly building his fitness and recently completed a full 90 minutes in a match against Manchester City's reserve side.
The 21-year-old did not feature in last week's 2-1 victory over QPR due to the death of his grandfather, but is keen to make an impact for his side before the end of the season.
Working hard
Alonso told the club's
official website: "More than the scorelines, on a personal level a big part of these two reserve games were to see how my foot felt and of course my physical condition.
"Overall I feel really good and the foot feels great. These last two games were exactly what I needed. I feel a lot more confident now in my foot and my fitness. I know I've got to keep working hard and hopefully I can get into the first team."
He continued: "We have ten games left in the Premier League, each on their own merit a cup final for us because we want to win every one of them. I feel confident we can climb up the table and make sure we stay in the league.
"I want to be part of the side and if the gaffer asks me to come in and do a job for the first team then I'm confident in my ability. After my injury I'm ready to play more football."
Wembley hope
Bolton travel to White Hart Lane on Saturday for a place in the FA Cup semi-final, and whilst Alonso says the league is the main focus, he feels his team will be taking the match seriously.
"We are all disappointed with the way we lost in the semi-final at Wembley last season," he added.
"Even though people may say we are more focused on the league, that doesn't mean we'll be taking the weekend's game against Tottenham lightly.
"We want to win and get to Wembley again. I'd love to be involved against Tottenham, but for now we'll just have to wait and see."
