Bolton manager Owen Coyle insists he remains a fan of goal-line technology despite benefiting from a goal that never was in Saturday's 2-1 win over QPR.

Darren Pratley headed Bolton in front, but the controversy unfolded earlier when Clint Hill's header from Joey Barton's corner was not given even though replays showed the whole of the ball had crossed the line.

Djibril Cisse equalised after half-time, however, Bolton had the final say when second-half substitute Ivan Klasnic decided the destination of the points with an 86th-minute winner.

The 'goal that never was' has immediately reopened the goal-line technology debate and, while Coyle sympathises with QPR counterpart Mark Hughes, he feels Cisse was offside for their equaliser.

"No one is a bigger advocate for goal-line technology than myself. Every time I'm asked I say the same thing," Coyle told Sky Sports.

Owen Coyle Quotes of the week

"It was a wonderful save, although it was over the line from Adam Bogdan to bring it back out. I can understand how Mark would be frustrated, as I was in the second half when QPR scored an offside goal."

Understanding

When asked if things even themselves out, Coyle continued: "Mark will say different because he'll say they'd be in front then and it's a different type of game. I can understand that.

"Having said that I thought to take the setback at the start of the second half the way we did, knowing it was clearly offside and then keep ourselves in the game, because QPR have good, good players.

"What was more enjoyable was that with 15 minutes to go, we actually brought on another striker in Ivan Klasnic to win the game. We weren't prepared to sit and take a draw, accepting your substitutions can sometimes go for and against you as the case may be. We know in Ivan Klasnic we've got a proven goalscorer.

"We've had to change our shape in the last couple of months to make sure we're more solid in the middle. We've done that, but with 15 to go we felt it was there to win and so it proved. It's been a great day.

"The important thing was we went and got the three points to move us out of the bottom three. We've been there for a long time, we must now kick on in the last 10 games."
