Rhys Williams: Bid rejected by Middlesbrough

Sky Bet

Sky Sports understands that Middlesbrough have turned down a £6million bid from Bolton Wanderers for Australian star Rhys Williams.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has been a long-term admirer of Williams after he gave him his league debut during his time with Burnley.

Boro have long insisted they have no desire or need to sell their big names this month, but Bolton have now tried their luck with Williams.

However, Sky Sports understands that Boro have been quick to tell Bolton that Williams is not available.

Williams currently has 18 months left on his current deal at The Riverside.
