Veteran striker to stay put

Sky Sports understands that Bolton skipper Kevin Davies is poised to agree a new contract at the Reebok Stadium, snubbing a move to Sunderland. The 34-year-old's current contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a move away from the club. Sunderland have made a move for him, whilst he is also wanted across the Atlantic in America's MLS. The Black Cats had been increasingly confident of persuading Davies to make the move to the North East, however, Sky Sports understands that he now looks set to agree a new contract with Bolton following talks. Sunderland had been willing to offer Davies an 18-month deal, but Bolton are happy to offer a deal of similar length to their veteran striker. Now, after considering his options, Davies looks set to remain at the club he joined in 2003.
