Trotters skipper admits he is yet to be offered fresh terms

Kevin Davies admits he does not know whether he has a long-term future at Bolton, with speculation continuing to link him with an imminent exit. The 34-year-old retains his status as club captain at the Reebok Stadium, but he has slipped down the pecking order over recent weeks. He is unaccustomed to life on the bench as he has been a prominent figure for the Trotters throughout his time with the club. Owen Coyle insists he still has a part to play this season, and heading forward, but his contract is due to expire in the summer and no extension talks have been opened. Davies concedes that he is unsure where he stands, but insists he will continue to give his all until he is informed that his services are no longer required.

Future

"I have no idea what my future will be," he told the Bolton Evening News. "Obviously I am disappointed not to be playing. But my performances haven't been good enough to stay in the team. "I keep training as hard as I can and when these opportunities come along, try and do my best. "It's January and there is speculation about all players out of contract. I am no different. "There has been nothing offered here as yet. I understand the position we are in and there are a few players out of contract. "In the next few weeks and months I am sure the club will make a decision on those players."
Challenge
Davies would complete a decade of service at the Reebok should he make it to 2013, and Coyle has offered him hope of earning an extended stay by revealing that he is prepared to offer all of those set to be out of contract every opportunity to prove their worth. "I don't see why it would be a concern," said Coyle. "If a player is out of contract, they do one of two things. They either play out of their skins to show their quality to earn a contract. Or, if they are playing well and to a high standard, they will have other admirers as well. "They are the ones with all the power. That doesn't faze me and it shouldn't faze them. They should see it as a challenge."
