Defender aiming for nine-point haul in next three games

Alex Baptiste hopes the team spirit which helped Blackpool to promotion can steer them towards safety. After a bright first half to their debut Premier League campaign, Blackpool have gone into freefall with just one win in their last 12 games. However, the Seasiders now have three home matches on the spin against Wigan, Newcastle and Stoke, with defender Baptiste eyeing up nine points. "Every game we play now is massive," Baptiste told the club's official website. "We're looking to take maximum points from our three home games in a row, but we're under no illusions that these are going to be the toughest games of the season so far. "No one wants to drop out of this league and the players in the teams at the bottom of the table will feel exactly the same.

Spirit

"Our spirit is second-to-none and that's what got us up in the first place. Hopefully that is what will keep us in the Premier League. "We know that we can do it against the best sides in England and we need to stand up and be counted now." Baptiste scored the last goal as Blackpool opened up their Premier League account with a shock 4-0 win at Wigan on the opening day of the season. The 25-year-old has fond memories of the DW Stadium triumph, but he is wary of Wigan's threat this time around, with both sides in a crowded relegation battle. He said: "It was up there with the play-off win because everyone had written us off at the start of the season. To win 4-0 and score as well was very, very pleasing. "But there was a period of 15 minutes in the first half when they battered us and if they'd have scored it would have been a completely different game. "It's a massive game but we're up for the challenge. They've got quality throughout their team so it will be a tough test."
