Welshman set for summer switch

The chase for Chesterfield's Craig Davies is hotting up with a number of clubs vying for his signature, skysports.com can confirm. The Wales international has bagged 22 goals this season and is one of the hottest properties in the lower leagues. He has helped Chesterfield to the brink of promotion as they are 13 points clear at the top of League Two. But Davies is out of contract in the summer and the Sprierites have all-but given up any hope of persuading him to stay. The 25-year-old can sign a pre-contract to move in the summer and the interest in his services is intensifying.

Fanstastic season

"There understandably has been a great deal of interest in Craig due to him having had a fantastic season so far," his agent Matt Kleinman told skysports.com. "I'm not aware of too many other 25-year-old strikers with his qualities available on a free transfer this summer and we've already had a great amount of interest in Craig from a number of Championship clubs and even a Premier League team." Kleinman revealed that a foreign side had already made a firm offer, but he was expecting many approaches. "There is an offer on the table from an overseas team and we are due to receive a formal offer from one particular Championship club on Thursday," he added.
