Coventry City have sent on-loan striker Danny Ward back to Bolton for treatment on a hernia.
Ward is on-loan at Coventry until January, and has featured six times for the Sky Blues so far this term.
However, he now has a hernia problem and has returned to Bolton to undergo treatment which will mean surgery.
He is expected to be out for at least a month, and after that Coventry are hopeful he will be back with them.
Coventry manager Aidy Boothroyd said: "I have spoken to Owen Coyle and Danny is going to go back up there to have his operation.
"Hopefully we will have him back as soon as possible, I do not know how long it is going to take, it will depend on the surgery, but hopefully we will have him back in about a month."
