Whites' utility man stays on

Leeds United have secured Andy Hughes' services for the coming season after he penned a fresh one-year deal. The experienced utility man played a key role in Leeds' Championship return after making 38 League One starts. The former Oldham, Reading, and Norwich man can operate in both midfield and defence, although he spent much of the season in the full-back roles. Hughes has made 126 appearances since joining the club in the summer of 2007, scoring his only goal at Millwall towards the end of that season. He had been out of contract this summer but was offered the chance to extend his Elland Road stay, something he completed at Thorp Arch on Wednesday.
