Bolton new boy Ebi Smolarek has revealed Johan Elmander played a major part in his move to the club.
Smolarek joined Bolton on a season-long loan deal from Racing Santander last weekend as Gary Megson moved to bolster his attacking options.
The forward is friends with Elmander from their time together at Feyenoord and he admits the Swede convinced him to join him at the Reebok Stadium.
"I have seen Bolton play but the main thing for me was that Johan Elmander was here because I played with him at Feyenoord," Smolarek told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"I'm very excited to play here. I found out two days ago. It has all been very quick but I have a good feeling about the club. I have also met some of the players now. I am happy to be here."
ImpressedSmolarek admits he has been impressed with his new employers and is determined to make an impact at Bolton.
"It looks like a good club," added Smolarek.
"The fans were great and they supported the team well - the players did their best and you could see the fans were trying to help them.
"The Premier League is one of the best in the world and I'm looking forward to it.
"I have got a busy two weeks with Poland now but when I come back I hope to do something good for the club."
