Bolton manager Gary Megson has confirmed there has been interest in El Hadji Diouf as Sunderland are linked to forward.
Black Cats boss Roy Keane is thought to be lining up a £5 million swoop for the Senegalese international, who has one year left on his Bolton contract.
The player appeared to signal his Trotters days were over when saying goodbye to Bolton fans at the end of last season.
He then failed to show up for Bolton's pre-season training camp last week, citing 'personal reasons' for staying away.
Megson said the 27-year-old is now back training with Bolton, but the club have received interest in the player.
He said in The People: "There has been some recent interest in Dioufy.
"He made comments at the end of last season but he's been back at training for the last couple of days and has been fine."
