Marseille manager Eric Gerets has vowed to 'fight' to retain the services of striker Djibril Cisse.

Striker would be granted move for personal reasons

Marseille manager Eric Gerets has vowed to 'fight' to retain the services of striker Djibril Cisse. Cisse has been tipped to leave the Stade Velodrome this summer, just 12 months after he joined the club on a permanent basis from Liverpool. The Ligue 1 club are on the verge of signing forward Bakari Kone, subject to a medical, and it has been claimed that Cisse could depart to finance the switch. Bolton Wanderers are said to be monitoring the 26-year-old's situation, but Gerets is adamant that Cisse is part of his plans. "I'm only going to fight to make sure he stays here," he told La Provence. It is believed the French international is keen to move back to the Premier League as his wife still lives in England. On the reports, Gerets added: "If it's for personal reasons I wouldn't be opposed to his departure."
