Out-of-favour Bolton man hints at Reebok exit

Gary Speed has hinted he may leave Bolton Wanderers in the January transfer window in search of first-team football. The vastly-experienced 38-year-old midfielder has slipped out-of-favour under new manager Gary Megson. Speed, who is just one of three players to have featured in every Premier League season, saw a potential loan move to Sheffield United blocked in November. However, Speed knows his playing days are numbered and believes he may need to quit The Reebok in the New Year, with Megson's current midfield performing so well. "Obviously I'm not in the Bolton team at the moment and I've got no complaints about that, the boys are playing well," he told Sky Sports. "The lads in midfield are playing exceptionally well so I'm not one to say I should be playing because at the moment the team are playing well. "But, at my age I need to be playing games so we'll have to see what happens in January. "I feel that I'm still fit enough to play and I've got lots of time to do other things but I've not got that much time left as a footballer so I want to play."
