Jussi Jaaskelainen has accepted the blame for his part in Salomon Kalou's winner for Chelsea against Bolton at The Reebok Stadium on Sunday.
Kalou capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Jaaskelainen and Abdoulaye Meite inside Bolton's box, to fire home the only goal of the game shortly before half-time.
The defeat leaves Bolton stuck in the Premier League's relegation zone with five points from nine games and Jaaskelainen is determined to help The Trotters improve their position.
"I thought that I could get to the ball before Kalou," he told the club's official website. "Maybe I should have stayed back but it's just one of those things. I thought Kalou was going to get the ball before Meite.
"The main thing now is to get that clean-sheet mentality. When you are at the bottom, nothing goes your way. But if we keep believing and playing well we will turn it around.
"However, we need to start getting points before Christmas otherwise we will be involved in a relegation battle. I believe, and the rest of the squad believe, we can turn things around."
