Kevin Davies is 'very hopeful' that Nicolas Anelka and El Hadji Diouf will stay at Bolton Wanderers.
With the transfer window closing on Friday, the futures of Anelka and Diouf are likely to come under close scrutiny.
Anelka has been linked with Manchester duo City and United, while Diouf has been targeted by clubs across the continent.
But fellow striker Davies expects the pair to stay at The Reebook Stadium and feels any transfer activity this week will be of the incoming variety.
"I'm very hopeful," Davies told Sky Sports News when asked if he thought Anelka and Diouf would stay.
"Obviously we want to get the window closed as soon as possible.
"Come Saturday, it will be all done and then we will see where we are with the set of players we have, and we hope we will maybe bring in one or two as well."
Bolton picked up their first win of the season at the weekend as Anelka scored, and Diouf impressed, in the 3-0 victory over Reading.
Davies, who is currently out with a hamstring injury, felt it was vital The Trotters beat Reading on Saturday.
He added: "It was a massive result for us, it was almost a must-win game.
"We needed the points and it gives everyone a massive lift.
"There was a lot of pressure on the game and the performance, I think, was brilliant. We got three goals and played some really good football as well."
