Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has personally overseen the potential signings of Hibernian duo Scott Brown and Kevin Thompson.
Redknapp went to Easter Road himself to watch the duo play in Hibernian's goalless draw with Aberdeen.
Although Redknapp was seen watching the pair, who are both represented by agent Willie McKay, he remains coy about his future dealings in the transfer market.
He said: "I haven't a clue about transfer business here.
"I just tell our chief executive Peter Storrie who I want and he tells the owner (Alexandre Gaydamak).
"I hope we can get one or two new signings in the transfer window but I don't know how much money will be available."
The Pompey boss has also been linked with West Ham midfielder Yossi Benayoun and Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim, but Redknapp has admitted he may sign nobody at all.
"Benayoun is a good player, but we have not spoken directly about him."
