Dutch giants Ajax have been offered the chance to sign former Bolton Wanderers target Juanfran.

The Spanish defender is poised to leave Besiktas shortly and had been lined up for a season-long loan move to Bolton.

Juanfran had already expressed a desire to move to The Reebok Stadium, although Trotters boss Sam Allardyce has now withdrawn his interest after failing to agree personal terms with the player.

Juanfran's future could now lie at the Amsterdam Arena, as Ajax have been offered the left back by Besiktas.

Ajax have confirmed the link to Juanfran, who has not settled in Turkey, but there are no firm plans, as yet, to take the player to the Dutch capital.

"He is one of the left backs which we have been offered," Ajax technical director Martin van Geel told Algemeen Dagblad.

"We are still in the phase where we are looking and searching.

"He is on our list, nothing more, nothing less."
