Michael Bridges is set to complete a permanent move to Sunderland in the coming month.

The 26-year-old has done enough to convince Black Cats manager Mick McCarthy that he has the quality to succeed.

Bridges hit the headlines when he scored against Stoke on Saturday - incredibly registering his first competitive goal in four-and-a-half years.

The injury-plagued striker is currently owned by Bolton, but is only contracted until December.

Sunderland will offer Bridges a one-year deal with an option for a further season should both parties agree.

Meanwhile, Black Cats winger John Oster is to spend a second month on loan at Championship rivals Leeds United.
