Oldham Athletic boss Brian Talbot has completed his second signing in as many days with the capture of goalkeeper Steve Corrie.

The former Rushden & Diamonds trainee has signed on a non-contract basis until the end of the season and will provide cover for current number one Les Pogliacomi.

Corrie quit Rushden to join the army but he is relishing his second chance in league football, after impressing for Oldham's reserves in midweek.

The signing of Corrie is the second deal of the day for Talbot, after Mark Bonner signed a contract until the end of the season.

The club have also launched a deadline day bid for Luton Town striker Dean Crowe.

The former Stoke City favourite will travel to Boundary Park to discuss terms over a possible contract.

Meanwhile, Talbot has been thwarted in his attempts to take over Jermaine Johnson's contract until the end of the season.

The Bolton forward has previously enjoyed a loan spell with the Second Division club but Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce has decided he may need the player to cover for injuries to his own squad.

Oldham have also had a request to take Manchester City's Lee Croft on loan turned down.
