Third Division strugglers Rochdale have seen their bid to stave off relegation boosted by the news that Bolton defender Danny Livesey has agreed to stay at Spotland for a further month.

The young central defender has proved a shrewd acquisition since arriving from The Reebok Stadium in February and Dale boss Steve Parkin is delighted that the deal has been allowed an extension.

''Danny has shown in his first month with us that he is more than capable of playing at this level, and I'm pleased he wants to stay and play first-team football,'' Parkin told the club's official website.

''There is no strength in depth at the club and with the small squad we have we need all the bodies we can get.

''We face some demanding fixtures over the forthcoming month, and Danny's continued inclusion in the squad can only be seen as positive.''
