Agent Peppino Tirri has rubbished speculation that Esteban Cambiasso has signed a pre-contract with Bolton Wanderers.

Reports have claimed the Real Madrid midfielder will join Sam Allardyce's men in the summer and link up with former Bernabeu team-mate Ivan Campo in Lancashire.

However, Tirri has stressed the deal in the pipeline to take his client to Internazionale is still likely to proceed.

"It's nonsense," he told skysports.com. "It's an absurd thing invented by the media.

"I have never talked with Bolton and I've never been contacted by them.

"This thing is not true."

Cambiasso is set to quit Real as his contract is due to expire with the Spanish champions and there is no sign of a renewal.

"The situation is the same as it was a few weeks ago," added Tirri.

"There is a general agreement with Internazionale that will be officially signed when it will be possible formalising it in accordance with Fifa rules."
