BOLTON WANDERERS look set to cool their interest in free agent Milan Rapaic, because they simply cannot afford him.
The Croatian midfielder has been without a club since the start of the year when he was released from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic were also interested in signing the Balkan ace but they too cooled their interest.
Trotters boss Sam Allardyce revealed that after signing Salva Ballesta, Pierre-Yves Andre and Florent Laville during the transfer window, the coffers at the Reebok Stadium were now empty.
"The three I brought in at the deadline was my quota," said Allardyce.
"It's a great shame because there aren't many of his quality going around in the window but when one pops up outside the window it's a bit of a find.
"Financially we just couldn't do it."
