BERNARD MENDY is hoping a good season with Bolton Wanderers will see him earn a recall to Paris Saint Germain next summer.

The full back signed a season-long loan deal at the start of the week, and The Trotters secured an option to purchase the player.

Despite this, Mendy feels he could still have a role to play under PSG boss Luis Fernandez.

When asked to comment on his aims for the new season, Mendy said: "I would like to return to PSG, the club of my dreams.

"Initially I would like to have a good season for Bolton. This will show that I have the mental strength to succeed and show people that I am not buried."

Reinforcing his desire to return to PSG, he added: "A loan move is better for me. Luis Fernandez did not want me to leave, he recognises my qualities, but wanted me to play. On this we both agreed."

Commenting on his move to Bolton, he added: "I have heard a lot of good things about England which is a different championship to France."

The 20-year-old also revealed that a transfer to the Reebok Stadium was a secondary option after a switch to Lens failed to materialise.

"My preference was to remain in France but, unfortunately, I could not," he revealed.

"A move to Lens appealed to me, but they could not afford the transaction.

"The leaders of Lens were waiting to sell Ferdinand Coly before signing me, but it did not happen."
