Banks, who moved to Bolton from Blackpool, has been limited to only 21 appearances for The Trotters in three years, and is keen to find first team football.
The 30-year-old seems an ideal signing for County, who are desperate to snap up a goalkeeper.
"We do have an interest in Banks," confirmed assistant manager Kevin Richardson. "But there's nothing to report at the moment."
