WANDERERS WEMBLEY BOUND

BOLTON became the first team to reach the FA Cup semi finals after an Eidur Gudjohnsen goal gave them a 1-0 victory over Charlton.

The Icelandic striker netted the game`s solitary strike, two minutes into the second half, and it puts Wanderers into the last four of the tournament for the first time since 1958.

Sam Allardyce`s side even managed to survive the last 42 minutes with ten men after Dean Holden was dismissed for headbutting John Robinson.

Charlton, who missed the chance to win a twelfth consecutive game, went close to forcing a replay in the dying moments when Addicks substitute Mark Kinsella was denied by the woodwork. Jussi Jaaskelainen was one of the main heroes for the home side as he made superb stops from Andy Hunt and Kinsella.

Bolton, who also reached the semi final of the Worthington Cup before losing to Tranmere, will play the next round at Wembley on the weekend of the 8th and 9th of April.

Trotters boss Sam Allardyce was understandably delighted about the prospect of leading his side onto the hallowed turf.

"I will be tremendously proud because this is my club," Allardyce said.
