Gemma Davison and Katie Chapman returned to haunt their old club as Chelsea knocked holders Arsenal out of the FA Women’s Cup with a 2-1 win at Borehamwood.

Chelsea skipper Chapman gave the visitors the lead in the 17th minute after heading in a corner from South Korea international Ji So-Yun.

And Davison, who joined Chelsea from title winners Liverpool earlier this year, smashed in a second to give Chelsea a two-goal cushion.

Arsenal pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time through Emma Mitchell, but were unable to find an equaliser after the break, meaning there will be a new name on the cup for the first time since 2012.

Chelsea wii be joined in the last four of the competition by Continental Cup holders Manchester City Women following their 2-1 win over Birmingham City Ladies.

Playing at the Academy Stadium which hosted England’s clash with China on Thursday, City took an early lead through Toni Duggan, who slotted home the rebound after Natasha Harding hit the crossbar.

Nikita Parris doubled City’s lead with a perfectly executed volley before Birmingham substitute Coral Jade-Haines pulled a goal back for the visitors with a close-range strike.

Fresh from her dazzling performance from England in midweek, stand-in City skipper put the gloss on the win with a cool finish through the legs of on-rushing Birmingham goalkeeper Becky Spencer.

Notts County Ladies thumped Aston Villa 5-1 to take their place in the semi-finals. Ellen White, who won her 50th cap for England in midweek, gave County the lead before international colleague Laura Bassett made it two.

Aileen Whelan got County’s third before Dunia Susi scored either side of Kerri Welsh's strike for Villa.

And Everton are also just one game away from a Wembley final after  beating Charlton Ladies 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

England U20 defender Ellie Stewart gave FA WSL 2 side Everton the lead but Nikita Whinnet’s equaliser forced the tie into extra-time.

Simone Magill scored the all-important penalty for last season’s beaten finalists who will line-up against top-flight opposition in the semi-finals.
