Everton have been boosted by the news that Ivory Coast forward Arouna Kone has not suffered another serious knee injury.

A scan, taken after Kone was injured in the build-up to Everton's winning goal at Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, confirmed the problem was "not serious".

Manager Roberto Martinez is still waiting to ascertain whether Kone will be fit for the club’s next game, against Southampton on April 4 after the international break.

Kone overcame a serious knee injury which curtailed his first season at the Merseysiders last term, missing 14 months in the process.

He has made 12 appearances, scoring once, since returning to action.
