Everton defender Leighton Baines believes their business during the January transfer window has given everyone at the club a lift.
Goodison Park tactician David Moyes was astute during the month, landing Manchester United's Darron Gibson and re-signing Steven Pienaar on loan.
Everton also swooped for Croatia international Nikica Jelavic from SPL champions Rangers and the striker made his debut in their 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic.
The Merseysiders are now unbeaten in four in league action while they also toppled leaders Manchester City last week courtesy of Gibson's second-half winner.
The sequence has lifted Everton into 11th in the table and Baines believes the fresh faces have provided a welcome boost.
Boost
"I think [January's transfer dealings] lifted everyone associated with the club, it certainly did from what we see within the club, it gave everyone a boost," explained Baines.
"It was massive, in particular, what that 24 hours did for us with the two new lads coming in (on deadline day) and the win over Manchester City.
"We needed it and it does lift people. It is hard to articulate exactly why that is at times but to get the new bodies in really helped.
"It was a productive period for the club and we certainly feel as though we are on the up again."
