Parry lauds departing Baxter

Tranmere manager Les Parry has paid a glowing tribute to Jose Baxter following the end of his loan spell at Prenton Park.

The 19-year-old forward has returned to parent club Everton following 15 games and three goals for Rovers. Baxter was to the fore in his final appearance against Brentford on Saturday, laying on Martin Devaney's early opener in the 2-2 draw, and Parry concedes he may be ready to operate at a higher level than League One. "That was Jose's final game and the lads gave him a warm round of applause in the dressing room," Parry told the Liverpool Echo. "I spoke to (Everton manager) David Moyes. Everton have their own injury problems and there were other reasons why he has been recalled. "Jose was brilliant for us. I can only thank him, David Moyes and Everton for letting us have him for three months. I was delighted to have him for that long. I think there might be some thoughts at Everton about finding him a Championship club to pit his wits at that level."
