Leon Osman is hoping Everton can replicate last season's win over high-flying Newcastle and end their unbeaten run. The Magpies have not lost in the Premier League this season and their 3-1 win over Stoke on Monday took them to third and just a point behind champions Manchester United. However, last season the Blues finished the season strongly as they went on a 10-game unbeaten run, which included a 2-1 win over Newcastle in the second match of that sequence. Osman remembers that game fondly as he scored in the victory and he hopes to have equally good memories from their upcoming fixture.

Adversity

"They are third in the table now they are unbeaten after 10 games of the season and are looking very strong - particularly at home," Osman told EvertonTV. "It's another very difficult game but it's one where we are going to be positive, go up there and try and get the win. "The win there last year summed up the season for us, after adversity we came back and really triumphed. "We had a 2-1 win and it was probably the start of a nice little run for us."
Rewards
Everton have a rich history of producing their own players and against Manchester United in their last outing, they had five home-grown players on the field. And for Osman, his fellow Liverpudlian, Tony Hibbert, has been outstanding this term. He added: "It's credit to him, he's a top player and I've been saying for years that he's one of the best full-backs in the country and he's finally getting his rewards for that. "He loves playing against an out-and-out winger where he's going to get a tough battle and it's good to finally see him get the plaudits he deserves."
