Duffy delight for Iron boss

Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill believes the best is yet to come from on-loan Everton defender Shane Duffy.

Duffy, 19, extended his spell at Glanford Park into a third month last Friday and celebrated with his maiden goal for the Iron in the 4-2 weekend triumph over Tranmere. "I think he's been excellent for us," Knill told The Iron Player. "It's so easy to forget he's so young. I think he's going to be a really good player. "The biggest thing that any centre-half needs is, when the ball comes into the box, a desire to get your head or a foot on it, and he has that." When asked about the prospect of extending Duffy's loan until the end of the season, Knill added: "I'm hopeful. He is a big part of the team and he's growing into that leader role. "It's a youth loan which we will continue, and then before January we will speak to Everton about trying to extend until the end of the season. We feel it's beneficial for both parties, but it's up to them."
