Everton boss brings in goalkeeper on a short-term deal

Everton boss David Moyes believes Marcus Hahnemann will provide extra cover for his squad after signing the goalkeeper on a short-term deal. As revealed by skysports.com earlier on Friday, the former Wolves shot-stopper has joined the Goodison Park club on a short-term deal until January. Moyes had been eager to bring in a new face during the summer transfer window with only Tim Howard and Jan Mucha in the frame for first-team action. Hahnemann was released by the Molineux outfit at the end of last season and is able to link up with the Merseyside club outside the window due to his status as a free agent.

Experienced

The America international will now compete with Slovakia shot-stopper Mucha to act as deputy to established first-choice Howard. Moyes told the club's official website: "We have only got two so I felt we needed someone before the window closed and I have been on the look-out for a keeper. "He is experienced and will give us that bit of extra cover we were after." The former Reading, Fulham and Colorado Rapids shot-stopper has plenty of top-flight experience under his belt from his time at Molineux and with the Royals.
