James Vaughan insists Crystal Palace's league position will not impact on his decision regarding a return to Selhurst Park.
The Everton striker is nearing the end of his loan spell at Palace and has scored five goals in 13 appearances in the Championship.
Palace want to sign the 22-year-old permanently and Vaughan is waiting to discover if he has a long-term future at Everton before reaching a decision.
But he has stressed that, despite Palace currently being in the bottom three in the table, the club's position will not influence his thinking.
"Everton are a big team and if I'm in their plans then great," Vaughan told the South London Press. "If not I may have to look somewhere else and see what happens.
"I know what Palace are about now and I know the quality in the squad, so I don't think I'll be looking at the league table when I make my decision.
"I've made a lot of good friends here - a good few are going to be people that I keep in touch with over the rest of my career and hopefully outside of football as well."
