Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has urged team-mate David Jones to commit his future to the club.
Manager Mick McCarthy has revealed Jones was offered a new contract in March, but negotiations fell through and the midfielder is now in the final year of his Molineux deal.
Jones can sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-English outfit from January 1st and would be free to depart the Midlands club for nothing in the summer.
But Hahnemann has called on the 25-year-old to remain with Wolves following his impressive start to the new season.
"David has been great for us, he's technically so good and came up with a brilliant free-kick for our first goal against Stoke," Hahnemann told the
Express and Star.
"Obviously we want him to stay as he's a great creative player for us and we'll need all of those qualities this season."
Unbeaten
Wolves travel to Fulham on Saturday unbeaten in their first three Premier League games, and shot-stopper Hahnemann is confident his side can build on last season's credible 15th-placed finish, though insists top flight survival is their primary objective.
"Our only aim is to finish higher than last season but we'll snap your hand off for one place above the relegation zone," he said.
"We believe we can pick up points from every game we play.
"We have a young team and they will benefit from having that season of Premier League experience behind them."
