Vieira plays down English interest

Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has insisted that David Suazo will not be moving during the transfer window. Suazo is currently on a season-long loan deal with the Portuguese giants after agreeing a switch from Inter Milan over the summer. Reports had suggested that a number of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa, were eyeing up a January swoop for the Honduras international. However, Vieira has stressed that Suazo will be staying with Benfica for another six months before returning to Inter. "This has been assured to us by Inter and at the end of the season we will speak about his future," Vieira told the Portuguese press. "The agent Giovani Branchini has also confirmed this situation to us."
