Everton boss David Moyes says teenager James Vaughan will come back from his latest knee injury.

Teenager's injury is serious but not career-threatening says boss

Everton boss David Moyes says teenager James Vaughan will come back from his latest knee injury. The teenage striker has flown out to Colorado for surgery after picking up yet another cartilage injury in training. But Moyes insists that even though it may look bad on paper and Vaughan will be out of action until the New Year, he is convinced that this injury will not be a career-ending one. "I do not fear for the boy's career," he said. "But it is always a shame when a youngster has the problems he has had. "He is a terrific lad with a great attitude and that is why I am confident he will come back and have a good career.

Best treatment

"We want him to have a good career from the game and we will do the right thing by him to get the best treatment. "I'm really disappointed for the boy, we were just beginning to get him back into training and he was much better than he has been for a while. "He'd been working with us for a few months. He then twisted his knee in training and initially we didn't think too much of it because it didn't look bad, but then it was discovered he had damaged his cartilage." The good thing - if it can be called that - is that this time, the problem is with the right knee, as opposed to a series of issues with his left. Added Moyes: "He has had a lot of trouble with the left knee, now it is the right. I just feel he needs a bit of good fortune, he has been so unlucky in such a short time.
Surgery
"He will now have an operation in Colorado in the next few days and I just hope that it will be the end of his problems. "He has been around the squad for all the games this season, and got on a few times. He needed the training under his belt, he has missed about a year overall with all his injuries and that has handicapped his development. "I just hope he comes back better and will be ready to play as quick as he can."
