David Moyes has been left baffled by claims that Emad Meteb is set to join Everton in January.
The Egyptian striker's agent had announced that a deal with the Toffees was imminent, with positive discussions having been held between the two parties.
However, Moyes insists he has no desire to bring the African ace to Goodison Park.
"I don't know anything about it. I've never heard of him," he said in the Liverpool Daily Post.
"I might have seen him play, but the name doesn't mean anything to me."
Meanwhile, Everton defender Joseph Yobo has pulled out of the Nigeria squad for their upcoming friendly against Colombia.
The centre-half is nursing a niggling calf injury and is wary of further inflaming the problem.
"I was hoping to go for the game but I got a calf injury against Bolton and didn't train for about two days before our last game and it was coming back again after the game so I have been advised to rest it," Yobo told Kick Off Nigeria.
"I called the coach and we spoke about it and he was very understanding. The club have sent a letter to the NFF."
Yobo's Toffees team-mate Yakubu Aiyegbeni will be in action for Nigeria, though, as he confirmed his intention to feature in the upcoming contest.
He said: "I have not pulled out. I still plan to travel for the game. I missed our last game because of injury and if I am fit, I will go to Colombia.
"Right now, I am already training and I hope to be fit in time for the match, but I have not pulled out."
