Everton defender Joleon Lescott has voiced concerns about his side being unprepared for the start of the new Premier League season.
With the Merseyside outfit slipping to their third pre-season defeat at the hands of Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire, Lescott said the Toffees are running out of time.
David Moyes' men have already lost to Swiss club FC Sion and Blue Square Premier team Cambridge United, and Everton stopper Lescott says there can be no excuses for their poor pre-season form.
Lescott told the Liverpool Daily Post they need to regain their focus ahead of the new campaign, with their opening day fixture against Blackburn Rovers just 15 days away.
He said: "We have to try and galvanise ourselves now.
"Fire were well-organised and knew what they were doing. They're halfway through their season and we knew they'd be fit. But there's no excuse for us. We've come here and we should be able to beat them.
"The squad is not as big as we'd like, and with just two weeks to go, we need to start focusing on the job in hand.
"Time is running out before the start of the season and we're running out of excuses."
