Everton teenager Jack Rodwell has signed his first professional contract at Goodison Park.
Rodwell made his first-team debut against AZ Alkmaar before Christmas and came on as a substitute in the Premier League win at Sunderland earlier this month.
He turned 17 last week and has now agreed a two-year professional deal with David Moyes' UEFA Champions League-chasing side.
The defender has been waiting to sign the contract and is hoping to remain involved in Moyes' plans during the final weeks of the season.
"I'm really pleased to get it signed, I have just been waiting for my 17th birthday," Rodwell told the club's official website.
"It was a really good week, making my debut, then signing the contract - and there was my birthday as well!
"It's been good being around the first-team recently, they are all top quality players and it's great to be involved.
"I just want to stay around (the first-team) as much as I can and play if I am needed.
"Then hopefully I'll have a good pre-season and go from there next season."
