Everton have swooped to beat the transfer deadline to sign Anthony Gardner from Tottenham.
The Toffees have been left short at the back with Joseph Yobo away at the Africa Cup of Nations and so David Moyes has moved to sign Gardner.
The 27-year-old England cap has featured just four times this season, scoring one goal, ironically against Everton.
Gardner will spend the rest of season on loan at Goodison Park.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos, fresh from signing Jonathan Woodgate, felt he had enough cover to let Gardner depart.
