Chris Gunter is keen to focus on his career with Cardiff despite speculation linking him with a move to Everton.
The talented young right-back reportedly attracted interest from the Goodison Park side in the summer, and with the transfer window due to re-open on 1st January he has again been linked with a Premier League switch.
But Gunter is determined to simply retain his place with Dave Jones' side and add to his experience at international level.
"Right now I am in the team on merit and not because somebody else is injured or suspended," he told the South Wales Echo.
"If I can maintain the form that got me there, then hopefully I will keep my place and be in a position to earn more caps for Wales.
"A lot of the speculation about my future started last summer when Everton apparently made a bid, but nobody at the football club said anything either then or since. Until I am told officially, there is little point even thinking about it.
"I am certainly not going to start trying to impress any scouts sitting in the stand. My only aim is to play as well as I possibly can for Cardiff City."
