Toffees' chief exec rules out Hoops move

Everton have insisted that James McFadden will not be leaving the club during the January transfer window. The Scottish striker has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot since his move to Goodison Park from Motherwell in 2003, but his recent performances for Scotland have attracted the attention of other clubs. Celtic and Birmingham have both been linked with the player, with a return to Scotland the most likely destination if Everton do decide to sell. However, at the moment, Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness is determined to hold on to McFadden and will reject any offers made in the New Year.

Vital role

"I haven't spoken to the manager but no approach from Celtic has come through me or the club," Wyness told the Daily Express. "James McFadden is under contract to Everton and we have made it clear we don't want to sell him. "He is a major player in our squad and will continue to play a vital role for the team. If any club made an approach in January they would be wasting their time."
Zurawski
With Celtic openly looking to increase their striking options, Maciej Zurawski's time at the club may be coming to a close after he was told to find first-team football or miss out on Euro 2008 by Poland manager Leo Beenhakker. The Dutch coach did admit that should Zurawski decide to move to America, then this would not be an issue as long as he is playing. "What matters most is that he plays on a regular basis, the level is not really a problem," he said.
