Joleon Lescott has thanked his England team-mates after his international debut against Estonia on Saturday.
The Everton defender replaced Rio Ferdinand at half-time slotting in at the back alongside Sol Campbell.
Lescott told The FA's official website: "It was great, it's always been an ambition of mine to represent my country and I've done that now.
"Hopefully I can continue playing well for my club and keep being selected in squads."
He particularly had praise for midfielder Joe Cole. "The crowd were exceptional and the boys made me feel easy, Joe Cole especially," he added.
"He was showing for me all the time and talking to me, so it was a great experience."
Lescott was switched to the left-back role after the injury to Ashley Cole, but he was confident playing either position.
"I've played there for my club and Joe Cole really helped me, I also had the experience of Sol Campbell alongside me so they made it as easy as possible."
