David Moyes is continuing to assess the fitness of Andy Johnson and Leon Osman ahead of Everton's game with Metalist Kharkiv.

Both players are carrying groin injuries and missed Sunday's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

The duo travelled with the Everton squad to Ukraine for Thursday's first round, second-leg tie against Metalist, but are not certain to play.

Moyes said: "Both players will hopefully do some light training.

"Then we will assess their fitness in the morning to see where we are up to."

Good side

Everton were held 1-1 at Goodison Park in the first leg, with Johnson twice missing from the penalty spot.

But Toffees boss Moyes has dismissed suggestions that the result was a consequence of under-estimating the quality of Metalist.

He added: "We came over here to see them and did our work thoroughly.

"They are a good side. You saw that by the way Metalist played in Liverpool."
